This calculator was built by Em, a retired U.S. Navy Commander (Medical Service Corps, 20+ years). Page 214 is free, privacy-first, and entirely client-side. Authority for the pay components: 37 U.S.C. Chapter 3 (basic pay at § 203, including the YOS-based pay table); 37 U.S.C. Chapter 7 (allowances — BAH at § 403, BAS at § 402, FSA at § 427, COLA at § 405); 37 U.S.C. Chapter 5 (special and incentive pays — HFP/IDP at §§ 310/351, sea pay, dive/jump/flight pay, language pay, retention bonuses); the Combat Zone Tax Exclusion at 26 U.S.C. § 112; SCRA rate-cap protections at 50 U.S.C. §§ 3901–4043. 2026 base pay tables sourced from DFAS (effective Jan 1, 2026, 3.8% raise per FY2026 NDAA Section 601); BAH rates set annually by DoD using DTMO market analysis. The civilian-equivalent calculation accounts for the tax-free advantage on BAH and BAS by grossing up at the marginal federal tax bracket (default 22%, adjustable). This is a planning estimate, not a pay quote — actual LES amounts depend on filing status, state of legal residence (SLR), TSP contributions, allotments, and specific entitlements not modeled here.
