The four primary VA education benefits (Post-9/11 GI Bill, MGIB-AD, VR&E, Chapter 35 DEA) plus the operational rate sources are cited in the in-tool Sources footer. Higher-level framework worth knowing: Forever GI Bill (Harry W. Colmery Veterans Educational Assistance Act of 2017, Pub. L. 115-48) removed the 15-year delimiting date for Post-9/11 benefits earned after Jan 1, 2013; Rudisill v. McDonough, 601 U.S. ___ (2024) clarified that veterans with multiple periods of qualifying service may receive up to 48 months of combined GI Bill benefits without forced election. Lesser-known programs that often go unused: MGIB-Selected Reserve at 10 U.S.C. Chapter 1606 (for Guard/Reserve members); Fry Scholarship at 38 U.S.C. § 3311 (surviving spouses and children of those who died in line of duty after Sep 10, 2001); Yellow Ribbon Program at 38 U.S.C. § 3317 (covers private-school costs above the cap); the Edith Nourse Rogers STEM Scholarship at 38 U.S.C. § 3320 (extra benefits for STEM majors near depletion); and the Transfer of Education Benefits (TEB) program under 10 U.S.C. § 1606 / DoDI 1341.13 with its 4-year service obligation. Always confirm with your VA Education Service representative (1-888-GIBILL-1 / 1-888-442-4551) and your school’s VA certifying official before enrolling — benefits depend on your specific service history, prior usage, and academic plan.
